is like attacking one grain of sand on the hundred mile long beach in Los Angeles’ harbor, or one snowflake in a raging blizzard. The tsunami of corruption of child athletes by universities for their own millions of dollars of profits has been going on since I played college football – something I experienced first hand, first as an athlete on the receiving end of money, and then when God gave us the good fortune to have our Billy Jack film succeed as one of the “booster” alumni who generously pay these athletes secretly under the table. I have real expertise on the inside behind-closed-doors way this criminal exploitation of child labor takes place.

And not just ordinary labor, but hard labor … and worse than that. It is a labor that is life crippling and life threatening. At least 25-50% of college football players get injured playing football, and spend the rest of their lives disabled from a knee injury, a shoulder injury, spinal and brain injury, and though rarely, sometimes as a paraplegic, or pay even with their lives.

I was not even 20 years old, still in my teens, when I had three major operations (foot, knee, and 6-inch pins put in my shoulder, the same day as the legendary pitcher Ted Williams had the same operation with pins put in his shoulder, see below), and two serious concussions, all of which plagued me for the rest of my life. (I later was to have one more major operation and concussion before I stopped playing football.)

I will never forget the shock I received when I had to take a pay cut from the amount of money I was receiving to play college ball to go into the pros, to join the camp of the then Chicago Cardinals professional team.

I had to take a pay cut from $20,000 a year to $15,000 when I went to play professional football.

Every society and every civilization known to man has had to keep a constant vigilance against the corruption inherent in its institutions, inherent because its institutions were run by human beings who list among their human frailties greed and the lust for power. First and foremost among America’s most corrupt institutions is the Congress of the United States. But near the top of the list is an institution so corrupt and so clever in its disguising its corruption that it has Americans blissfully ignorant of how thoroughly corrupt it is, and to put it bluntly, how thoroughly rotten its corruption is, and how brutal its exploitation of innocent, idealistic young children it manipulates and exploits for hundreds of millions of dollars of profit it keeps to itself.

How do I know this? Because I was a full participant in it, first as a 17 year old high school football player who was paid under the table money to go to school – called a “scholarship” – and then as a payer of secret and disguised ways of paying college athletes to go to a school I felt an obligation to help.

First, as a player.

First, I was paid through what is hypothetically called a “scholarship” to go to Indiana University, the first of three major colleges I played for, moving from one to the other because I got more money in one disguised form or another. The “scholarship” consisted of room, board (all meals), tuition, books (a very considerable sum as today’s textbooks can cost as much as $75-$175 for a single book for a single class requiring a half a dozen to a dozen books per semester), all costs involved if we joined a fraternity or other campus organizations, and a “job” – and a phony job it was - and that was not all.

My first “job” at Indiana consisted of being paid to guard the gymnasium floor, and the field house basketball court from people playing on it in inappropriate shoes, like their street shoes. Just coincidentally, the hours I was assigned to guard the floor, especially the field house were hours that the gymnasium and field house were padlocked and not open to the public, and though I was not there, I signed a phony time card putting in dozens of hours as if I were there.

But that’s not all. I was also granted four roundtrip train tickets from the University to my home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and the summer holiday … and there’s more. The clothing store! I was allowed to go to a clothing store of a booster and receive a suit, a jacket, two pairs of slacks, two sweaters, and an outdoor coat or jacket – for free. (Clothing stores seem to always play a role in this disguised, under-the-table cash payment as I’ll explain in a moment.)

All in all, the amount of money I was being paid by the university to play football for them totaled $20,000 in 1950 dollars! But my roommate, who was one of the most highly sought after high school All Americans, got much more. He got everything I got, plus, plus, his dad was given a job as a janitor in a steel mill in Pennsylvania where he was from at the then enormous salary of $25,000 a year. This unbelievably lush so-called “scholarship” is never given to a kid who wins a scholarship for science, or music.

And the hypocrite running the NCAA and university system hypocritically insists they don’t pay athletes.

But I was offered even more to transfer to the University of Wisconsin.

I met with the head coach and the assistant coach offensive coordinator under the stadium at Indiana the Friday night that Wisconsin had come down to play Indiana. I had played beautifully in the freshmen game against Wisconsin (freshmen were not eligible for varsity in those days).

The coaches asked me where I was going to live after I got out of college – in Indiana or Milwaukee where I was from, and had all my family? I told them, “Milwaukee, of course.” “Then, you’re playing for the wrong school, because nobody in Milwaukee cares about you playing at Indiana or will want to give you a job because you played at Indiana – but if you play at Wisconsin, a hundred job opportunities would open up to you the moment you graduate.”

A few weeks later I was flown to Madison, Wisconsin, and on a Saturday night after a Wisconsin game, I met with the coaches at the house of the President, and was offered a “scholarship” – a slightly better deal. It consisted of all the same perks I had at Indiana, plus the phony “job,” only this job was even more lucrative. It consisted of doing surveys of out of state license plates on cars in Madison, whether parked or moving, a job I could do any time, day or night, weekday or weekend. Rarely did I ever go and take down real license plates. Again, I just signed in, and signed out fake hours, and got paid my hourly fee – but there was still more. Every Friday night I went down to a clothing store in downtown Madison (a clothing store again), went down to the cashier’s window and got an envelope which contained cash – my paycheck, for what? To this day, I have no idea. Incidentally, in the late 1990’s I was invited back to the University to give a lecture, and I was telling my wife about our Friday night trip to the clothing store as we stood outside the same clothing store still in business. Lo and behold, as we watched, a steady flow of 250-300 lb guys went in, down to the cashier’s window, and received their unmarked envelopes. (Oh, yes, I got the usual de reguere freebie clothes. Clothing stores are a secret goldmine for highly paid college athletes.)

I was later offered a “better” deal to transfer to Marquette. My high school coach whom I adored, who was a surrogate father figure to me, was appointed the head coach of Marquette University’s struggling football team, and asked me to come and play for him. I couldn’t refuse for emotional reasons, and because I got – unbeknownst to him – a slightly better deal from the alumni.

In addition to all the other lucrative perks of my two previous scholarships, I got a real job – or sort of. I was given the job of cleaning up a very successful tavern right across the street from the campus. I’d go in at 8-9:00 in the morning, clean the place up, and restock the refrigerators, and everything else that needed restocking. It paid extremely well, but it was real work – except I didn’t always do it. Because it paid so well, I was able to hire other guys to take my place and clean it up while I slept in, still getting paid as if I was doing all the work.

Oh, yeah! Another perk. I was allowed to take a couple of cases of beer a week out of the stock room and go to local liquor stores and have my pretty girlfriend go in and tell the clerk this was left over from a wedding and could she turn it in for cash? It worked every time.

And then I went into the camp of the Chicago Cardinals’ professional team, now the Arizona Cardinals. There I had to take a pay cut. The starting salary – and you’re not going to believe this – was a mere $15,000, a serious drop from the approximately $20,000 I was being “paid” to play college ball. Johnny Lujack, the superb all-pro of the Chicago Bears, was the highest paid pro football player in those days at – believe it or not - $25,000 a year.

(An interesting “scholarship” anecdote about my boyhood friend, Harvey Keene, who went on to become an all-star for the Detroit Tigers, and later, a manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, playing in the World Series championship – affectionately known as “Harvey’s Wallbangers”.

(We went to grade school a few blocks apart, and while in high school, Harvey set a world record of 53-yards with a drop kick in football, which no longer exists. He chose to play baseball, and I tried to tell him that the scholarships for baseball were chickenfeed compared to football, and he should give up baseball, and concentrate on football. Harvey was an amazing college player, and went on to sign with the Detroit Tigers, at a then record-breaking $100,000 signing bonus – absolutely astonishing in those days. Harvey chided me, “Yeah, Tom. Football scholarships are a much better deal. By the way, how much are you making as a pro?”)

And that is what I learned just on the receiving end of the disgusting, hypocritical way universities cheat their college athletes out of a fair salary to exploit them to make tens of millions of dollars a year for their universities off the backs of these kids, many of whom get injured, and some even crippled for life, earning that immoral lucre for the university presidents.

Now the other side of the coin – my wife and my experience as “boosters,” people playing the under-the-table game of finding sophisticated ways of paying college athletes without being caught, such as “hiring” them to give lessons to our children and friends, hiring them as extras on movies and TV shows where they could earn as much as $500-$1,000/week depending on the “business” they were given to do, and that is for both male and female athletes, in not only football, basketball, tennis, etc.

An example that will make this clear happened to me when I was trying to help our friend, Dick Vermeil, then the coach of UCLA, later the pro-bowl coach of the St. Louis Rams, to recruit a highly sought running back from Ohio w ho went on to be a collegiate All-American and an All-Pro. Though Delores and I were both sitting on the Chancellor’s Committee at UCLA, I had an absolute rule on being asked to recruit a player, whether it be a football, basketball, tennis player, whatever. I would take the kid aside and tell them man-to-man – or in Delores’ case, woman-to-woman – while we would love them to come to UCLA, that didn’t matter, and they should not take that into consideration in making their decision. The only thing that mattered is what was in their best interests, what they wanted to do, and where they got the most beneficial home for their college education.

After telling them this, this heavily recruited high school All-American, confided in me he had already decided on Ohio State. Why? Because Woody Hayes, the coach of Ohio State, had arranged to help him and his family financially through his high school years, and his “scholarship” deal was all set, but he always wanted to come to California and see the California girls, so he couldn’t pass up his free trip where he was treated like royalty.

There are hundreds of ways boosters can get money to players without being caught, without breaking the rules.

A typical way is to hire them for dozens of different jobs and pay them, in cash, under the table, an outrageous sum of money above and beyond what you would pay someone else to do the same job. For example, every Saturday we had between 30-50 friends for an afternoon of tennis, a beautiful buffet, and an evening movie. We’d hire athletes as lifeguards to watch the children in our small pool, where you would normally pay a college kid to do this $5/hour, for it required no lifeguard training because the adults were sitting all around the pool, we would pay them $25-$50/hour in cash.

To give an equal amount to women athletes, which was a demand of Delores’, we would pay the tennis players $100/hour to give lessons to our kids, or to our friends, some of whom were very famous movie stars or sports stars. Usually, with the stars, the lessons would last for ten minutes, and then they’d play “hit-and-giggle” doubles, as Evonne Goolagong called it.

A very lucrative way available in our business, and available in every other business – car business, construction business, retail store, plumbing business, etc. - has their own equally lucrative way of getting under-the-table money to athletes they are supporting – is to hire athletes as extras on movies or television shows. Extras get $50 to $100/day if they just are ordinary extras, but if they get what’s called a “piece of business,” like open the door for an actor, deliver a package, etc., they can make up to $1,000 or more a week – and if the director gives them a line, even to say “Thank you,” or “Here’s a call for you, Mr. Jones,” it can be a lot more. Of course, the surreptitious method of “extra” payment goes on forever in the country where movies and television shows are being shot, on location or in a studio.

The motive! Not just tens of millions of dollars, but hundreds of millions of dollars.

College sports, in every case football, and in big schools, basketball as well, make millions, to tens of millions, to hundreds of millions of dollars off of their football and basketball programs – millions of dollars they could never otherwise get from alumni.

A few years ago Notre Dame received over $100 million from NBC to televise nationally all Notre Dame games, and every other major college also has these outrageously lucrative television contracts they make to televise their game – not one dollar of which they would receive if they didn’t have 18, 19, and 20 year old kids out there risking their arms and legs, brutally damaging concussions, and even more damaging paralysis – dangerous, even life threatening, labor for comparative pennies, compared to the money the university receives for the show these kids put on, and without which the universities would receive nothing.

And there’s more, much more!

The TV windfalls do not take into account the oftentimes greater windfalls from ticket sales, concessions, parking fees, and merchandise sales.

If a major player has a stadium of 50-75,000 people, and the average ticket price for a big game is $60, that’s $3 million to $4.5 million per game – and that’s just from ticket sales. That doesn’t include the much more revenues from concessions, parking, programs, and memorabilia – and that’s per game. Some of the giant stadiums exceed 100,000 people (Michigan 109,901, Penn State 107,282, Tennessee 102,459, Ohio State 102,239) which gets the university $6.134 million to $6.594 million per game – per Saturday - and that doesn’t include all the other millions of dollars that come from the other revenues streams, concession, parking, memorabilia, etc. (In the Big 12, the average ticket price is even higher, $84/game, or as much as $8 million for one Saturday’s ticket sales alone.) And this doesn’t even include Bowl games.

Do you know how many alumni dinners or cocktail parties a university president would have to attend to raise just the amount of money he raises from just one Saturday’s football game? It’s not possible. He could spend years attending alumni dinners and luncheons every week, and he still couldn’t raise anywhere near the money he gets from just Saturday afternoon football games – from exploiting Saturday afternoons child labor, which is not as safe and secure as working in the cafeteria, or the bookstore, but from idealistic kids risking their lives and becoming permanently disabled so the self-righteous presidents can make these tens – even hundreds - of millions of dollars.

A way to see how much value university presidents put on their football and basketball programs is seen by looking at the salaries they pay their coaches, as opposed to the salaries they pay their top professors and teachers. At the smallest schools, football coaches salaries range from $150,000-$250,000. And at the major universities, they range from $1 million to $2 million and even more per year – and that does not include the very lucrative salaries they receive for hosting their own “Coach’s Corner” on the local radio and television programs.

At these same universities, the college presidents earn from $250,000 to a mere handful earning in the million dollar range. The average median pay in 2009 for 419 colleges and universities was $358,746, and Associate Professors and faculty earn an average of $50-$75,000 per year, and that’s at the bigger colleges and universities.

Using the magnificent principle, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” as our guide, we’re forced to ask the simple question of the NCAA officials, and the sanctimonious university presidents who reap these humungous profits from the labor of these kids, “Why not treat them as fairly and as lucratively as you treat yourselves?”

Why not pay them?

Why is it more honorable, moral, ethical, or even honest to pay them in the phony way of so-called scholarships instead of paying them a fair amount, an amount commensurate with the profits they generate for you by the fruits of their life-risking labor?

What could possibly be wrong with paying every one of the 60 members of the football team room, board, books, tuition, and student fees, not just for now, but for as long as they wish to attend the university, even after their playing days are over, and they wish to improve their chance of making a decent living? In addition, pay each member who makes the squad at least $1,000 a month. How can that possibly be wrong in view of the humongous profits their labor produces for you and your university?

This is a pittance to pay for the hundreds of millions of dollars a major football or basketball program generates for the university. For small schools, it would be, at most, a million dollars a year. For large schools, with a full 60-man scholarship roster, it could be up to $2 million a year. Less than the amount of money generated by one home game. And in some cases, not even half the amount of money generated at a home game.

Sticking to the greatest moral principle ever known to man, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” “Love your neighbor as thyself,” it’s time for university presidents and everyone involved in education everywhere to “do unto others” – student athletes – “as you would have them do unto you” – willingly and lovingly risk their lives to generate millions of dollars for you and the university or college they love.

Let’s get off the sanctimonious self-righteous attempt to indict Cam Newton when everyone involved in the university and every sports fan knows the real culprits are the NCAA and the university presidents who control it. Their sanctimonious pretense of shock at the still only alleged payment of this one grain of sand on an entire beach of presidential corruption, one snowflake in a raging blizzard of hypocrisy and lying by the NCAA and the university presidents has got to be exposed for what it is, and stopped once and for all. (Their sanctimonious, hypocritical shock and determination to “clean up this mess” has caused them to go to the astonishing length of calling in the FBI to investigate this absolute trivial and irrelevant incident.

(The FBI??? At a time when Al Quada is sending to synagogues time bombs into the United States on airplanes, these deceiving, two-faced presidents and officials of the NCAA asked the FBI to investigate an innocent kid, and possibly destroying his life for something that thousands and thousands of athletes all over this country are guilty of doing right now, and doing with the full knowledge and deliberate cathedral of lies and deceptions to continue to be able to savagely exploit these kids for their own and university’s profit.)

It’s time to pay these kids fairly, and put an end to the elaborate criminal subterfuge and pretense that college is not an extremely profitable farm system for the professionals, to put an end to the cathedral of deception and duplicity designed for the sole purpose of taking advantage and exploiting the labor of desperate, innocent kids, in many cases trying to crawl their way out of poverty and desperation, and restore the college athletic system to a meaningful integrity and clean stepping stone for young men and women to get an education, and more if their talent deserves it. A week later, I was still in my sling, slowly and gently moving my hands in the sling just to wash my face, when Ted Williams went out and hit three for five in a Sunday game. In the press conference afterwards, he was asked how he could do that with these pins still sticking out of his shoulder. Ted said, “Well, it hurt!” I then realized that Ted Williams, as Joe DiMaggio said was the greatest striker of the baseball that ever lived, on that day he became, to me, the toughest baseball that ever lived.

For more, go to www.billyjack.com By doing so, the Academy has watered down the prestige and respect of being a nominated film, by the same perverted logic the Academy could have used the same distorted and simplistic logic to expand the number nominated to fifteen, twenty, or even twenty-five. Just by asking yourself “Why ten rather than fifteen?” you already see how the value of being a nomination for Best Picture is weakened, watered down, and even prostituted by expanding it to ten, especially when you look at some of this year’s nominees – which contain some pictures that nobody wants to see even today, that are grossing only a pitiful $7 million and $11 million at today’s box office.

2. But even more disgraceful, more shameful, is the truly horrific, even heinous, leaving off the ten best pictures list Clint Eastwood’s biographical masterpiece, the incredibly beautiful, supremely intelligent, magnificently directed, Invictus, the story of the greatest civil rights’ leader of all time, Nelson Mandella, who – though he was always a great hero of mine and Delores’s – this film showed it in a way we never saw before, that Mandella stands shoulder to shoulder with Gandhi and King as a true Saint in the Civil Rights movement, and in some ways even surpasses them. It’s an enthralling masterpiece that will take its place as one of the great film biographies of all time.

And it’s not even nominated??? As one of the ten best pictures of the year??? Leaving Invictus off the ten best nominated list is a true cinematic sin, a sacrilege, especially when you look at some of the embarrassingly mediocre, immediately forgettable films that were nominated, such as: An Education, A Serious Man, District 9, etc..

Ten out of ten people we interviewed did not even know what three of these Best Picture nominees were – never even heard of them - and certainly had no desire to see them. Clearly, unequivocally, they were light years beyond light years of having any chance of being remembered, let alone desired, two weeks after the Academy Awards are over, let alone two years, twenty years, or seventy years from now, such as the previously great Academy Award winners as Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, It’s a Wonderful Life, Ben-Hur, Lawrence of Arabia, To Kill a Mockingbird, Titanic, On the Waterfront, etc., etc., etc.

Compare 2009’s pictures with the films of 1939, such legendary classics that are still shown regularly on television today: The Women, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Destry Rides Again, Gunga Din, Drums Along the Mohawk, Golden Boy, The Light the Failed, The Man in the Iron Mask, Beau Geste, Three Muskateers, Young Mr. Lincoln et al …

… and these films were NOT nominated!

When you see the films – the high quality of the films that were nominated - virtually every one is still remembered or even still shown today over 70 years later, you understand why back then, with so many magnificent films available, the Academy nominated ten pictures in the Best Picture category: Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Dark Victory, Wizard of Oz, Love Affair, Ninotchka, Stagecoach, Of Mice and Men. Do you honestly believe An Education, A Serious Man, District 9, Up in the Air and Inglorious Basterds will still be shown next year, let alone 70 years from now? No one is even going to see some films like A Serious Man and An Education in the theaters today.

There is no disputing the fact that by failing to even nominate Invictus as even one of the ten best pictures, cheapens the Academy and brings it to an all-time shameful low – all in a desperate attempt to try to catch up with the rapidly escalating popularity and prestige of the Golden Globe Awards.

Why Kathryn Bigelow's Directorial Genius will not allow her to make a hit movie

Why, in spite of director Kathryn Bigelow’s incredible intelligence, her extremely beautiful inside and out (knock out gorgeous movie star looks, matched by her beautiful soul within) and her amazing directorial genius, her personal neurosis, her severely damaged feminine capacity will never allow her – in spite of her directorial genius – to make a commercially successful film, a box office hit that people want to see.

(In spite of all the right publicity surrounding her winning virtually every award possible, Kathryn’s Hurt Locker has done only $11 million, while her ex-husband, James Cameron, has two all-time record US grossing pictures – the first, Titanic, one of the greatest love stories ever filmed ($608 million US alone, $1,835 billion worldwide) and the greatest special effects love story ever filmed, Avatar ($688 million US alone (and counting), $2,456 billion worldwide (and counting!)).

Why the difference in the grosses of these two astonishing directorial geniuses?

Kathryn’s has no heart, no love story, little or no feminine compassion or kindness. She has the capacity to create tension in a film as almost no one else has. Kathryn has that incredible ability to make a film that transcends being a film and becomes, as the critic Rex Reed said about Billy Jack years ago, “… it becomes real life.” But with Kathryn’s films, it is the most painful slice of real life she gives us. In Hurt Locker your stomach is in a knot the entire time with one of the most negative, hostile and painful endings ever when Kathryn has our hero leave his loving, caring, responsible wife and his beautiful son to cater to his thanatos, his suicidal death wish and insatiable need to constantly prove his manhood by risking death and killing people while doing so.

The one thing you never do in a Kathryn Bigelow film is come out feeling inspired, good about yourself, or ten feet tall. You come out as if you’ve been not just kicked in the gut, but that you left the dentist’s office after having not just one root canal done, but four.

The brilliant director gives us an x-ray into her lack of feminine capacity at the very end of the picture when our suicidal hero comes home. First, in two scenes with his adoring wife, who has borne the gigantic horrid responsibility of raising their son alone while waiting for the phone to ring any moment, telling her of her husband or her son’s death. We never even see the warm greeting he gets from her and his son when he first comes home.

The only two scenes we see between this great looking couple is the wife ignoring him while busy cooking dinner, and shoving him some vegetables to cut up to help her. His boredom wreaks with doing this simple task. The next scene between the two is in the grocery store where he’s irritated by having to choose which box of cereal to pick off the shelf, lined with dozens of cereal choices. And the only scene we see with him with his son has nothing to do with the way a father who has agonized over being separated from his son for so long would behave. Instead, he gives a speech explaining why he hates being with his son and has to go back and be a killer.

Here Kathryn’s directorial genius and lack of ability to make an emotionally fulfilling movie becomes transparent. One of the key ingredients that people demand to see in a film is “credibility”, the “What if?” principle. “What if…” this character was in this exact situation, what would he or she do – what would I do if I were that character in that same situation? Every single person we interviewed said that when they first arrived home they would be overwhelmed with joy, overcome with powerful emotions at first seeing their spouse and their son, and maybe after a period of the thrill and ecstasis of seeing your most beloved family again, they could start to get bored. Kathryn gives us none of the ecstatic joy at seeing his loved ones. Not one moment! Instead, she concentrates only on his instant boredom – so anxious is she as a filmmaker to get him back to the killing fields, which she thrives on, and masterfully creates for us.

The final scene of him walking away from the camera excited about being back to continue his rendezvous with death is Kathryn’s way of proving her thesis that war is a drug, and incredibly insightful and superb insight into the human nature of so many soldiers, mercenaries and politicians to whom war is a drug. But because she has denied us even the most basic human emotions of love and joy between a soldier and his family, and because the ending of her film is such a negative downer, instead of being excited about this insight into the horror of war, we are irritated and disappointed by the ugly ending of the film which causes us to miss the point she is trying to make.

But she reveals to us another truth – making violent macho films about war is a drug for Kathryn. Tragically for the film world, and the entire world of film audiences, unless there is a radical growth in her psyche, Kathryn will never be able to use her incredible directorial genius to give us a love story – a picture people want to see, and can’t wait to see, a major box office hit. She should take a page from her ex-husband, her good friend, and learn the secret of making a runaway box office hit, a lesson Cameron can give to every one of us who want to make films that people want to see because we have something we want to say to either enlighten them or just enrich their lives by giving them a couple of hours of laughter to relieve the dull gray we all live in every day.

The Public Option Healthcare Debate - A Fact no one is discussing

“Public healthcare is a right, not a privilege.”
- Ted Kennedy

The Pro-Public Option proponents are presenting the wrong argument … Here is the hard evidence that completely demolishes the case against the Public Option, the case for Private Insurance Only

Both those for and against the public option are making the exact same argument, presenting the same case …
… both are arguing it will force the reduction of healthcare costs:

Those for the Public Option argue that it will reduce healthcare costs because it will provide real competition – free and open competition - the free enterprise capitalistic system.

Those trying to kill the Public Option argue the exact same thing – that the public option will create real, free and open competition and that will eliminate the obscene windfall profits the private insurance companies make.

The difference is those wanting the Public Option want it as a way of stopping the outrageous profits the private insurance companies make, while those trying to kill the Public Option want to do so solely and only to protect the monopoly the private insurance companies have to make outrageous profits.

That is the only difference between the two!!

Both plans have built-in costs for doctors, hospitals, technology, testing and treatment equipment, and medicines – the only difference is the Public Option eliminates profits, and the Private Insurance Only plan protects profits – not only protects profits, but continues to protect the insurance companies having a license to continue to make outlandish profits by letting them continue their stranglehold monopoly over healthcare.

Profits – heinous profits – are the only real difference between the two plans – and the only reason the insurance companies are making lavish campaign contributions and spending an additional $150 million a day to kill it.

Both agree the Public Option will make gigantic reductions in healthcare costs – which of course benefits the American people. But those trying to kill the Public Option are not as interested in reducing healthcare costs as they are in protecting the private insurance companies monopoly they now enjoy for charging outrageous sums for premiums and deductibles, and which allows them to be free to deny one out of five necessary medical treatments prescribed by doctors as they do today – and be able to continue to pay their executives $24 million a year.

“How in the name of God …??” – literally – can this possibly be happening?

… when over 75% of the people want Public Option Healthcare …
… and when over 75% of the doctors want the Public Option …

… and over 45,000 are dying every year because they can’t see a doctor (over 122 Americans a day, each and every day, 365 days a year)

How is it possible for a small handful of politicians in Congress bought and paid for by the insurance companies lobbyists, to kill this desperately needed, life and death opportunity for every American to have the free choice to have the Public Option Healthcare if they want it, or to refuse it if they don’t want it?

How can they - the Grassleys, the Hatchs, the Baucuses et al, who represent less than 1% of the people – deny 99.9% of the American people from having free choice, fair and open competition, and deny voters their right to have a free choice about which plan they want, is so un-American, so un-free enterprise capitalism, so anti-democracy, so anti-American, how can it actually be happening to the sick and dying hardworking American voter?

The answer is money! Corruption! And hypocrisy! (Baucus alone has taken almost $4 million from the insurance companies)

The old Golden Rule was “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” derived from the nuclear core principle of Christianity, “Love thy neighbor as thyself,” give to every American the same lifesaving healthcare you are blessed to have.

The new Golden Rule is “He who has the gold, rules” … and in this case it’s the private insurance companies who, with their obscene windfall profits, high-powered, extremely expensive K Street lobbyists, control their bought and paid for Congress, or, to paraphrase Will Rogers, “The best Congress the insurance companies money can buy.”

So who does your Congressperson represent? The sick and dying, or the profiteers?

Do they represent the money barons at the insurance companies because the sole purpose of those Representatives and Senators trying to kill the Public Option is to protect the obscene profits of the insurance and pharmaceutical companies?

Or do they represent their people – the uninsured, the underinsured, the pain and suffering of the sick and dying who desperately need the radical healthcare reform NOW, and know the Free Choice Public Option is the only way to get it – the only way to get real healthcare reform?

Nothing screams out more loudly of the enormous power of the Public Option to provide real competition that will drive down healthcare costs dramatically than the argument – the case – presented by those Congresspersons desperately trying to kill the Public Option … the argument to kill the Free Choice Public Option to protect private insurance healthcare only (the case actually proves the value and need of the Public Option Plan)

The Private Insurance Only Argument: “Public Option will provide the competition that will drive the private insurance companies out of business.”

This totally false scare tactic has had enormous success in scaring people away from the Public Option. Almost 50% of the people polled are against the Public Option because they are afraid of losing the healthcare they got.

Hello!! This argument that they will be forced to lose the healthcare they got is amazing – simply amazing! This argument proves beyond any possible doubt that the Public Option is the only way to drive down healthcare costs – the only way to acquire real open and free competition, which is the essence of America and American capitalism - an argument that overwhelmingly proves the value and need of the Free Choice Public Option Plan.

Why do they argue the Public Option will drive the private insurance companies out of business?

The only possible reason people will freely switch from the healthcare they got to the Public Option – the only possible reason – is the Public Option will provide equal or better healthcare at a lower cost and not allow preconditions or the healthcare providers to deny one out of five treatments doctors prescribe.

The only possible reason you would voluntarily – of your own free will – switch from the insurance you have to the Public Option is because the Public Option will provide equal or better healthcare at a lower cost.

Even better – you can choose the Public Option and still keep the insurance you have as tens of millions do with Medicare – using Medicare but having additional private insurance.
The Public Option is not an “either/or”. You can have both – if you like your private insurance – take the Public Option and keep what you have.

Hello, again!! What, again - in the name of God - is wrong with that? How does the Public Option hurt one single American, except those profiting off the suffering of the sick and dying?
Get rid of the excessive profits, and help the people – ALL the people – stop the bought and paid for Congresspersons from denying 99.9% of the American people the Public Option healthcare they desperately need! It’s as simple as that!

How you, by making only 5 phone calls, can form a network of voters that can generate an unbelievable amount of political power to give the support to all of those wanting to vote for the Public Option, including Obama, they desperately need – NOW!!! Rick Warren knew, as he himself has admitted on talk shows, that McCain was not safely in a “cone of silence.” Warren knew – absolutely - that McCain was not even in the building, that he had not even yet arrived – and yet look at the lie Warren brazenly tells his worldwide audience:

Warren’s language is very specific in what he tells the world, starting with his use of the word “we.” “We have safely placed Senator McCain in a cone of silence.” He leads the world to believe he has personally seen that Senator McCain was put in this “cone of silence” – yet he never did any such thing. Nor did anyone on his staff do it and report to Warren that McCain was safely in the ‘cone of silence’ … for the simple reason McCain was not even there.

Why did Warren tell such a blatant lie? There is no possible way that anyone on his staff could have informed Warren that McCain was safely in the cone of silence when he wasn’t even there. He hadn’t even arrived on the premises. The only possible thing his staff could have told Warren is that they were getting panicky because McCain hadn’t yet arrived, and they had to go on the air in minutes. Warren himself had to panic about the no-show of his major player – unless he was aware of it and prepared for it.

Yet with everyone panicking that McCain had not yet arrived, and they were going on the air, with everyone desperately trying to locate McCain and get him there, Warren goes out and does an ugly, sinister thing. Warren tells the world audience, gives assurance to the world audience, that “we have safely placed Senator McCain in a cone of silence …” where Senator McCain could not possibly hear the questions Obama would be asked.

Warren said this even though he knew with absolute certainty McCain was not in a cone of silence, Warren knew that at the time he said that to the TV audience, McCain was in a motorcade, in a car where McCain could hear everything – on the car’s TV screen, on the radio, or have aides tell McCain of the questions being asked on his cell phone, blackberry, or any other message center. Not only could McCain hear the questions, his aides had plenty of time to prepare his answers.

Why did Pastor Warren so knowingly and consciously lie and deceive us – and that’s not the only lie and deception Pastor Warren did and continues to do on the talk shows.

When McCain’s turn came to be on the air, Warren, threw gasoline on his fire of lies and deception by sweetly asking McCain, “Now, my first question: Was the cone of silence comfortable that you were in just now?”

This is outrageous behavior on Warren’s part. Knowing full well that McCain was not even on the premises for over half of the first hour, and knowing that he was in the normal Green Room in another building since arriving, Warren intensifies his deceit and asks McCain if he was comfortable in the cone of silence when he knows full well McCain was not in a cone of silence for over half the show, or all of it.

Warren’s first lie and deceit – that we have safely put him in a cone of silence – was despicable enough. But Warren’s continuing to lie and deceive with that question he knows to be false is, frankly, repulsive, even though it comes from a hero of mine who preaches living every day in the moral code of Christ.

McCain plays his part in this ugly sinister deceit by deadpanning “I was trying to hear through the wall.”

Again, McCain was never – not for one second - isolated in a “cone of silence” – and Rick Warren knew it. When McCain finally did arrive a half hour into the show, he was put into a Green Room in a separate building where Warren insists they unplugged the TV set, ignoring the fact that in the Green Room McCain, or his aides, could have cell phones, blackberries, and written and verbal communication by his aides who were with him. McCain was not in an isolated booth where no one could communicate with him and tell him the questions and go over responses.

Warren continued to lie in defending his lie about McCain being isolated from the questions. When we finally learned the truth that McCain was in a car, Warren desperately tried to cover up his lie and deception by saying “Yes, McCain was in motorcade, but the Secret Service would keep him isolated.” That is patently absurd. So absurd it would be laughable if it didn’t have such serious repercussions on the Presidential race.

First of all, who gave the instructions to the Secret Service to not let McCain or any of his staff with him in the car turn on the radio, take away his cell phone, blackberry and iPod – not only McCain’s, but everyone in the car with McCain. Did those instructions come in a memo form, or given verbally? And by whom? The Supervisor of McCain’s Secret Service contingent? It’s beyond ludicrous that Pastor Warren is out there days later insisting that was the truth, what really happened.

Lastly, it is totally misleading and deceptive regarding the nature of the friendship, the relationship that develops between members of the Secret Service and the candidates they are putting their lives on the line to protect. It also ignores the opportunity for other staff members to quickly brief McCain on the questions as he parks the car and walks to the Green Room, or walks from the Green Room across the lot to the building in which the forum is being telecast from.

Two other deceptions! Conscious, deliberate deceptions!

Warren told his national television audience that the decision as to who would go first was decided by a flip of the coin. Though Warren doesn’t say it, the impression I, and everyone I know who watched the show, got from Warren’s statement that the flip of the coin was done as every flip of the coin is done before a major event, such as the Super Bowl, or overtime in a football game – the two opponents (McCain and Obama) gather with the referee (Warren) who says “Heads McCain, Tails Obama” and then flips the coin with all interested parties watching.
I did a anecdotal survey of 47 people who saw the show, and everyone of them thought Warren’s representation that it was done by a flip of the coin was done in the manner I just described, the manner we all assumed and expected it would be done. It was a shock for everyone of us to find out that Warren did the coin toss secretly weeks before, supposedly in front of his staff. Why would Warren represent – and clearly lead us to believe – that the coin toss was done in the standard open fair way when he did it surreptitiously well in advance of the night of the forum.

What possessed Warren to tell such an insinuation lie when he clearly and simply could have told us the truth on national television?

Shockingly, Warren does another lie by insinuation when he says first on national television and then over and over on talk shows in the days that follow, that he culled the questions from over 200,000 he received from his followers, again insinuating he reviewed them all and chose the questions he was going to ask. That by itself is another absurdity. To go through 200,000 questions would take a staff of ten people each going through 20,000 questions in the month leading up to the forum. That’s 5,000 a week, that’s 1,000 a day (714 if they worked seven days a week), and that doesn’t count the enormous amount of time and work involved in going through all of the questions the ten staff members selected, and narrowing them down to a mere 1% of the questions, 200, and then narrowing and re-narrowing them down to the questions Warren finally chose. It’s another pathetic ludicrous claim by Warren that he personally reviewed 200,000 questions from his followers.

The truth is Warren asked the questions he wanted to ask.

The ugly truth is that Warren asked questions that were, in the jargon of people who do interviews, “softballs,” “hit out of the park” questions that were perfect for McCain.

Why? Because Pastor Warren is a McCain supporter through and through, and he’s not honest enough to openly admit it.

A peak into that truth about Warren being pro-McCain came with McCain’s answer to Warren’s question about the role God and Jesus play in his life, and how McCain goes about the process of involving God and Jesus in his decisions. McCain never answered the question, and Warren never pressed him to answer. Instead McCain gave the story of when he was a Prisoner of War – a story he’s told hundreds of times at the drop of a hat – of one of his guard’s drawing a cross with his foot in the dirt. The story tells us something interesting about the guard, but absolutely nothing about the role Christ played in McCain’s life, especially his daily life, both personal and professional. And Warren let him get away with that story which in and by itself is beautiful and inspiring, always drawing applause as it did that night.

Another intriguing question about this whole affair that makes it look like a set-up. How come McCain was “late” getting to the forum? A national television event of enormous importance, close to the debate forum McCain has been screaming for, and McCain “accidentally” arrives late – over a half hour late???

That’s another absurdity. You would think that for a national television show this widely anticipated, McCain and Obama would have both gotten there at least one hour before air time. McCain wouldn’t dare risk being late for the show, and would never allow himself to be tied up by anything else that would make him over a half hour late. Neither McCain nor anyone on his staff would ever take such a terrible risk with such severe repercussions. His delaying his arrival so he could be informed of the questions was no accident. It was carefully planned and staged – all to the enormous benefit of McCain.

A powerful hint of this was that Obama when asked a question had to take time to think of his answer, and was clearly thinking of his answer for the first time, often taking time to reflect and consider what his answer would be. McCain never hesitated for a second on any answer – not one! He had a “ready-made answer” for every question, and never had to hesitate or even think about his answer. Any person, especially one vying for the Presidency, would have to take a moment – at least a moment – to reflect upon the question being asked - to consider it and mull it over in their minds as Obama did. Not McCain. After the preliminaries were over, McCain had a ready-made answer for every question he was asked. The tougher the question, the more immediate and ready-made McCain’s answer was.

This is not the only reason Obama bombed miserably on the show. He stunk all on his own, and some of his answers were embarrassing, like his answer to the question “When does life begin?” Obama’s answer “That’s above my pay scale,” was the typical weasely answer of a political spin doctor, and it stunk.

A tremendous amount of the failure of Obama rests solely on his shoulders and his inept performance. However, the enormous advantage Warren gave to McCain by allowing him to have the questions in advance – and then continue to defend that McCain didn’t get the questions in advance, gave McCain the opportunity to give a superb presentation, which Obama was denied.

The bottom line: 92% of the people we surveyed said – shockingly – they expect McCain to cheat, they do not expect Obama to cheat – which says it all.

What makes this such a pathetic event – a terribly sad and painful event – is that Rick Warren descended to this deceitful, lying game playing at the height of his career – a career in which he has done incredible things that have inspired tens of millions of people all over the world. A career in which he discovered an eternal truth in everyone finding a purpose in their life and sold twenty-five million books preaching it. A career in which he had been a tremendous force for good all over the world, bringing healing and hope to the oppressed, the poor and the starving. A career in which he had walked with “kings”, heads of nations, and not lost his common touch or his bringing of Christ’s message, of “doing to these the least of my brethren” as Obama said and complimented him for doing it.

It truly hurts to see a man of this greatness descend to this political chicanery and duplicity.

VA Tech Tragedy ... They lock every door they can behind them – the entrance to the building, to the classroom, to the office, to the closet, so the gunman has to open multiple locks to get to anyone.

They pull all shades, turn off all lights, and be as silent as possible.

Every loud speaker system available in classrooms, buildings, stadiums, public squares, immediately broadcasts a red zone danger exists and take cover wherever you can, and turn on the Emergency Radio System, email system if it exists, and television to learn what’s happening from a safe place.

OF CRUCIAL IMPORTANCE: Authorities do not end the lock down and bring people/students into the open unless and/or until the shooter is apprehended or lies dead at a policeman’s feet. If this simple step had been followed at Virginia Tech, instead of the authorities assuming the shooter left the campus, 34 people would still be alive, and over 20 not wounded. The authorities must be absolutely sure every shooter, or group, is apprehended, dead, or rendered incapable of harming anybody else.
It is the height of irresponsibility to say we “heard” the shooter is gone so end the lock down and let everyone go back in harm’s way.

Every school and campus should have mandatory indoctrination and training as to how to proceed when the disaster sirens go off, like we used to have for fire drills and air raid drills. The same holds true for employees of every business of every size – from the post office and McDonald’s, to city hall and factories.

Every place that can, especially schools and campuses, should have a pre-assigned communication’s center where everyone can get up to date information regarding loved ones.

In addition, there should be a number to call for an up to date message/recording as to what is happening, and what they should do next.

This is not difficult to do! Towns all across the south have the tornado warnings installed as we speak! How can we put a price tag on the safety and security of our children?

I go berserk when I hear the people defending the decision to let these children go to school because they "thought" the shooter "left campus ... maybe even the state." Please!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tomlaughlin.blogspot.com/2007/04/va-tech-tragedy-how-to-prevent-next-one.html' title='VA Tech Tragedy ... No one in America or in Congress will believe it is remotely possible that Bush would use nuclear weapons in Iran. Everyone in the entire world, and every national leader in the world will not take the possibility of a nuclear attack seriously because everyone knows it would be insane to preemptively launch a nuclear weapon, and no sane leader would dare do it, so nations like Iran, North Korea and Syria can continue to openly flaunt Bush and Cheney without fear of military reprisal. What they do not realize is Bush and Cheney are both seriously and dangerously mentally compromised and delusional. (“We’ll be greeted with flowers as liberators.” “The mission is accomplished.” “The insurgency is in its dying throes.” “The Iraqi oil will pay for the costs which will not exceed $50 billion.”) (See Phase 11)

2. Bush and Cheney’s approval ratings at home and abroad are at all time lows mainly because of their catastrophic failures in Iraq and Afghanistan. Historically when a nation goes to war, the entire nation rallies strongly behind the President and Bush and Cheney feel this will enormously increase Bush and the Republicans’ popularity.

3. Bush is no longer feared as a superpower, but is regarded as an impotent joke at home and all over the world. By setting off two nuclear weapons in Iran (per his plan), Bush believes he will automatically regain his status as the world’s sole superpower, the world’s “strong man” leader.

Here is how the secret 12-Phase Plan – already fully underway - will work, resulting in the first nuclear war and greatest human catastrophe in history.

The nuclear attack on Iran would be in 12 phases:

Phase 1: Create a national diversion by focusing the Congress and the voters’ attention on whether or not to escalate our troops in Iraq, completely occupying Congress, the media and the voters.

Phase 2: Bush and Cheney are fully aware this fifth surge will fail as certainly as the previous four, but it will preoccupy America and the world while they secretly move forward with their nuclear attack on Iran.

Phase 3: While everyone is focused on the escalation in Iraq, make an illegal, immoral Preemptive Strike on the Sovereign Nation of Somalia on the pretense of getting a dangerous 9 year old terrorist, but for the real purpose of testing how the public, the Congress and the world will react to another Bush preemptive strike, whose real purpose is to prepare the world for Bush’s pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear building sites.

Phase 4: If there was no real outcry to this violation of Somalia’s sovereignty, a further provocation of Iran would take place by attacking, killing and imprisoning Iran nationals and envoys in Iraq with an intense propaganda campaign that these were Iranians helping Iraq’s insurgents by attacking Americans directly, i.e., Iran surreptitiously attacking America. Of course some Iranians in Iraq were, and always have been, but others were sovereign envoys protected by international law, a clear way of provoking Iran.

Phase 5: Quietly send two full carrier groups – not one, but two - into the area loaded with patriot missiles, and also hidden in their top secret cargos, secretly developed nuclear field weapons - shoulder holstered nuclear “Bunker Buster” missiles - surreptitiously developed against Congress, who had clearly and explicitly refused Rumsfeld’s and Cheney’s request to develop and pay for these incredibly dangerous weapons that could fall into the hands of terrorists and other American enemies all over the world.

Phase 6: Continue preparing America and the world for the nuclear attack on Iran by Bush casually mentioning, almost in passing in his 2007 State of the Union Address, that he has already sent two air carrier groups to Iran with patriot missiles.

Phase 7: If there was no real outcry, either in America or the world, to the first illegal preemptive strike in Somalia, do a second strike in Somalia to desensitize world outrage for any future preemptive strikes – especially the crucial preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Phase 8: Do a preemptive, absolutely illegal air strike in violation of international law on Iran’s key 3,000 newly developed nuclear facilities with traditional bombs.

Phase 9: Depending on the severity of world response, especially Iran’s and North Korea’s, send a second preemptive air attack with one plane carrying one nuclear weapon.

They will use the nuclear weapon because it is the only weapon they have left. Bush and Cheney’s incompetence has so squandered our military superiority by failing so catastrophically in Afghanistan and Iraq, the only way they can possibly win is by their use of nuclear weapons.

Phase 10: Should North Korea threaten to send, actually send, or even think of sending their over one-million man army across the border to South Korea’s capitol, Seoul, just 30 miles from the border, with only our 37,000 troops standing in the way, we will – for the first time in history - through Special Op forces who have been fully operational in Iran for months, launch an attack on a key Iranian nuclear facility with a Nuclear Field Weapon - one of our secretly developed Shoulder Holstered Bunker Buster Nuclear Missiles.

Iran, Syria and North Korea’s Fatal Miscalculation

Phase 11: Every Head of State, including Iran and North Korea, are absolutely convinced that no sane leader would use a nuclear weapon to attack another country. Unfortunately not one realizes the extremely serious mental illness and delusions of grandeur of Bush and Cheney. (See evidence of how seriously Bush and Cheney are both mentally compromised).

All of the Military experts, politicians, pundits and talking heads who say we’ll never attack Iran because we are already spread hopelessly thin militarily, are wrong – and for the same reason:

The same delusions of grandeur that caused Bush and Cheney to predict repeatedly that we would be greeted as liberators with rose petals in Iraq, have Bush and Cheney absolutely certain that we will have to unleash only two nuclear weapons – one via air and the other a land missile – and the whole world will cave in to our military power. They believe no one will dare fight back for fear a nuclear weapon will be leashed against them, and Bush and Cheney will be the only military superpower in the world.

Bush and Cheney are absolutely convinced every nation will be so terrified, especially by the nuclear land missile’s flexibility, that this fear will completely nullify any troop numbers, no matter how overwhelming. Bush and Cheney are absolutely convinced our overwhelming nuclear power, and willingness to use these air and land nuclear weapons, will force all opponents, from Iran and North Korea, to Syria and Chavez, into immediate submission and our control, forcing them to submit to all conditions we request, and ending any nuclear threat they, or any other nation, might be thinking of developing.

They are absolutely convinced that every nation will so fear a Special Ops use of a nuclear bunker buster in their nation, they will restore Bush and Cheney to being masters of the universe which they stopped being with their failures in Afghanistan (“Forgot-us-stan”), Iraq, Lebanon – and even Katrina.

Bush and Cheney are convinced that whatever negative reaction there will be towards the US at this first use of nuclear weapons in a war, it will be more than offset by the United States regaining its position as the world’s sole military superpower able to crush any opposition, actual or developing, to America’s goals, and give us complete control over all the oil and gas reserves in the Middle East, and elsewhere. In short, it will restore The Bush Doctrine, making America the world’s only superpower, and keep nuclear weapons from being developed anywhere else.

Phase 12: Bush and Cheney are certain that the cowardly Congress, who have brutally betrayed the 2006 voters who gave them control of Congress to stop the Iraq war, are so afraid of even passing aggressive legislation to stop the war, cut off funding, etc., and are so intimidated they spend their time endlessly debating non-binding resolutions and playing partisan games for the 2008 election, will never have the backbone to stop them - even when they discover the hard proof of Bush and Cheney’s mentally ill, already underway plans to attack and invade Iran.

The only possible way to stop them at this late stage is by a Congressional Impeachment Inquiry (not even an Impeachment Trial, but just an Impeachment Inquiry. See Impeachment Process).

And they are right!

The only thing that can stop Bush and Cheney plunging the world into a nuclear holocaust is an Impeachment Hearing. Nothing else will come close.

Because the Congress is so cowardly they won’t even pass binding resolutions to end the war, they will never call for an impeachment inquiry.

Only we, the people, the betrayed 2006 voters, can stop the war we voted to stop!

Only we, the betrayed 2006 voters, can rise up and demand an immediate impeachment inquiry.

And if Congress continues to play their political, so-called “non-partisan” games jockeying for the 2008 elections, we - the people, the betrayed 2006 voters - could hold our own nationally televised Citizens Impeachment Inquiry in a desperate bid to stop this nuclear crisis from becoming a nuclear war.

We have 90-120 days to do it, or the madness of Bush and Cheney will plunge the world into a nuclear Armageddon.

EndTheIraqWar.com
A 527 Non-Profit Committee / Contributions are not tax deductible.
P.O. Bolton, now Ambassador to the UN. It is inconceivable that a man who believes strongly in the destruction of the UN and its importance is made Ambassador to the UN.

Of special interest in this bizarre concept of benevolent domination of the world by one power, the US, the document articulates the clearest rejection of collective internationalism, i.e., the United Nations and other coalitions.

In the event that having the appearance of a coalition has a political or public relations value, the coalitions formed for these purposes should be, at best, “ad hoc assemblies, often not lasting beyond the crisis being confronted…”.

In other words, when forced to find the United Nations useful, pretend to support them, but only temporarily and then return to discrediting the United Nations and minimizing its influence in the world.

In 2000, the old Dick Cheney strategy document for US world domination written in 1992 now became the blueprint for the creation of a “global Pax Americana” drawn up for Dick Cheney (now Vice President), Donald Rumsfeld (Defense Secretary), Paul Wolfowitz (Rumsfeld’s Deputy), George W. Bush’s younger brother, Jeb, Lewis Libby (Cheney’s Chief of Staff), and John Bolton (Ambassador to the United Nations). The document, entitled Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century, was written in September 2000 – before the elections.

True to its original strategy of 1992, the document calls for “a blueprint for maintaining global US preeminence, precluding the rise of a great power rival, and shaping the international security order in line with American principles and interests.” Like the original, it too advocates “discouraging advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role,” and the complete discrediting of the United Nations in order to eliminate them as having any kind of world influence.

Interestingly enough, the document refers to certain allies, especially Britain (Tony Blair), that can be used as “fronts” to provide “the most effective and efficient means of exercising American global leadership.”

The blueprint emerged again on September 15, 2002, when the Sunday Herald revealed the discovery of the secret document clearly stating that President Bush and his Cabinet, were already planning a premeditated attack on Iraq to secure “regime change” even before he took power in January 2001. The subsequent invasion of Iraq, as predicted by the Sunday Herald, from the September 15, 2002 document, verifies the authenticity of the document.

The 1992 document created not only a national, but an international, uproar, and was so outrageous that Bush Sr. knew he had no chance to be elected if he publicly stood behind it, and so he disavowed it and had it buried, but it didn’t go away. Throughout the 90’s, the hardcore of extreme conservatives – including John Bolton - continued to fight for the document to become a matter of national policy, including the undermining and sabotaging of the United Nations, revising the draft and on January 26, 1998, issuing a letter to President Clinton urging Clinton to adopt its principles immediately, which Clinton rejected.

Today, nine out of the sixteen creators of that document are in positions of enormous power in the White House, including Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Lewis Libby (Cheney’s Chief of Staff) –and John Bolton, Ambassador to the United Nations - et al where they are successfully implementing that policy, starting with the “first step …”, the invasion of Iraq to control its oil and the Middle East, only this time they have leading this campaign for world domination the President himself, George W. Bush.

Why Iraq is far, far worse than Vietnam ever was and will get even worse, why “staying the course” weakens America, and the new 'proxy' WW3

Why Iraq is far, far worse than Vietnam ever was and will get even worse if we don’t get out now, why “staying the course” weakens America, and why Iraq is the launching of the new ‘Proxy’ World War III

For 12 long years, we continuously heard that we were going to “stay the course” until the Vietnamese could stand up for themselves which “will probably be by the end of next year,” but because we were so profoundly ignorant of the psychology and culture of the Vietnamese, the War dragged on for 12 long years and we were finally forced to “cut and run” in the most disgraceful and shameful defeat in American history … a defeat we are absolutely certain to repeat in Iraq and whatever other countries Bush’s mania gets us involved in.

How many Americans ended up having to serve in the Vietnam War?
8,744,000

In 1963, there were 16,300 American “Advisors” in Vietnam, and ten years later, in 1973, when we were forced to admit we were wrong and abandon Vietnam:

8,744,000 beautiful American men and woman had had their lives disrupted, destroyed or ended;

Over 59,000 Americans killed or missing (average age 19);

Leaving 20,000 children orphaned for the rest of their lives;

Over 150,000 maimed or permanently disabled, leaving their arms and legs in Vietnam rice patties

… and over 3 million Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians, and Indonesians killed.

The Vietnamese Election had a greater turnout than the Iraq Election

In September 1967, the Vietnamese held an election with an over 80% turnout, better than the Iraqi election. We were told then that this was a new day of freedom for Vietnam, a major breakthrough that would soon allow us to start withdrawing our first forces.

We also heard the same “stay-the-course” rhetoric we’re hearing today, calling those who wanted to leave cowards, and predicting the Vietnamese were well on the way of becoming a free, sovereign nation. Yet, seven long years of bloodshed later, with over 35,000 more Americans killed, and 80,000 more maimed and permanently disabled, with our tail between our legs, in shame and disgrace, we were forced to abandon Vietnam – to “cut and run.”

The same profound ignorance of the Arab and Islamic psychology and culture is already creating another Major American Catastrophe in Iraq, another Vietnam, only far, far worse unless we replace our troops before it’s too late, and get rid of Bush and Cheney and their rubber stamped war mongering Congress before it’s too late!

China never entered the Vietnam War but Iraq already has Iran and Syria, and behind them Russia and China already involved

Though we were told that China would enter the Vietnam War it never did, and though we were fighting only the small country of North Vietnam with some behind the scenes support by China, for 12 long years we could never defeat North Vietnam, or establish a free democracy there. But, thank God, the war never spread throughout the peninsula and the Far East. Had it done so we would have been even more disgracefully routed and humiliated.

It is just the opposite in Iraq. The Iraq Civil War has already spread throughout the region. Bush and Cheney’s delusional systems never allowed them to see that the war in Iraq was already part of a deeper “proxy” war with Iran and Syria, who are using Hezbollah and Hamas to attack the United States, just as they are still too blinded to see that the spread of the Iraq war to Lebanon and Palestine, with Iran and Syria behind Hezbollah and Hamas, and Russia and China supporting Iran and Syria -- is just the beginning. Even when a temporary ceasefire is brokered – and it will be – the new ‘proxy’ form of World War III with Iran and Syria, Russia and China will continue for the next decade in Iraq and Afghanistan, the building of nuclear weapons in Iran and North Korea … and who knows where else.

Under Bush and Cheney’s blundering, Iran – THE Shiite country – now is in control of Iraq in a way that was impossible under the psychotic tyrant Hussein. Their Shiite puppets control the Parliament, the Iraqi military, the Iraqi police and everything else, just as their Shiite minions control Hezbollah.

Because of the astonishing ignorance of the Arab and Muslim psychology, culture and religion, just as we were profoundly ignorant of the Vietnamese mentality, even if the war was just contained to Iraq it would be Vietnam all over again, only far worse, because – from the beginning – this has been a religious and cultural war with Muslims all over the world, as well as a war against free sovereign nations everywhere who have a ferocious determination not to let Bush - according to his Bush Doctrine of Imperialism - to dominate and control the world, to dominate their country and region.

Far worse than Vietnam, Iraq has become World War III, which is only going to get far, far worse unless we renounce and destroy the Bush Doctrine of Imperialism by impeaching Bush and Cheney before it’s too late.

Why leaving makes us stronger

Bush and Cheney have spread our military so thin they are close to becoming impotent, even though we have the greatest, most skilled soldiers and technology the world has ever known. After over three years we are still failing so miserably in Afghanistan we still have never been able to capture either Osama or Omar, the head of the Taliban, and added to our even more miserable failure in Iraq, where over 100 Iraqis are killed every day – over 6000 killed since May - since Zarqawi was killed, which we were told would be a turning point, we have shown the world that our massive military power, under Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld’s leadership, is incompetent and stretched so thin it encourages terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah to openly attack knowing we can’t fight back militarily.

How weak are we militarily by “staying the course”?
We could do nothing if North Korea invaded South Korea tomorrow

If North Korea sent its million man army across the border to the capitol of South Korea, Seoul, only 30 miles away, what could we possibly do? Nothing! Our 30,000 troops on the border would be wiped out immediately … and it is inconceivable that we could drop nuclear bombs on North Korea and not render asunder the entire world by starting a nuclear war – and only God knows where that would end.

By bringing our troops home from Iraq, and regrouping them into a consolidated force, we now would be able to send them in a matter of hours anywhere in the world they would be needed – a fact the entire world would know, and if this was the case now, neither Hezbollah nor Hamas would have provoked these wars for fear of our military response – which they now know is both militarily and politically impossible.

Leaving makes us stronger - staying the course is absolutely certain to create a more shameful disaster than Vietnam.

How, and why, Bush is using Israel as a ‘proxy’ to destroy Hezbollah and Lebanon, escalating a different form of World War, a World War by proxy

How, and why, Bush is using Israel as a ‘proxy’ to destroy Iran and Syria’s proxy - Hezbollah and Hamas - according to an Israel step-by-step plan pre-approved by Bush - escalating a radically new and different form of World War –a World War III by proxy

We must stop being deceived – it is not Israel invading Lebanon, but Bush using Israel as a ‘proxy’ nation and Iran using Hamas and Hezbollah as its proxy nation in this escalating new form of World War. In World War III, superpowers use ‘proxy’ nations to attack each other behind the scenes while pretending to have a friendly working relationship on the surface – China and Russia using Iran, Syria and North Korea, and Bush using Israel. Bush and Cheney’s delusional systems do not allow them to understand this, and so they keep being surprised that Russia and China constantly do not cooperate but protect North Korea and Iran against Bush’s attempts to control them.

Bush’s/Israel’s overkill destruction of Lebanon, and Bush’s open refusal to even try for a ceasefire until his “five-step” fantasy plan to destroy Hezbollah is accomplished, per the Bush Doctrine of “destroying anyone who aspires to even regional influence,” threatens the very survival of Israel.

It is not possible to understand what’s going on in the Middle East unless you read ‘The Bush Doctrine’ of Imperialistic ambition to use our “superpower status to dominate and control the entire world.” (click here)

Only when you understand Bush and Cheney’s lust to control the whole world, as clearly spelled out in the Bush Doctrine, includes destroying anyone who even aspires to not only lead, but even just have an influence in their region, as Hezbollah and Hamas are daring to do – and behind them Iran and Syria.

Here are the quotes from this terrifying anti-American doctrine, declaring Bush’s Imperial ambitions:

“The US must establish and protect a new order that convinces potential competitors that they may not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect even their legitimate interests … “

“We must discourage advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role …

“… we must prevent the domination of key regions by a hostile power …

“… we must maintain our status as a military power of the first magnitude to prevent the development of a nation with regional influence.”

The document openly spells out how we are to “use” certain allies, especially Britain (Tony Blair) and Israel, that can be used as “fronts to provide the most effective and efficient means of exercising American global leadership.”

Bush’s ‘Dead-or-Alive’ Policy

Eliminating Hezbollah, and punishing Lebanon is consistent with Bush’s avowed policy, repeated over and over publicly, of severely punishing any nation that even harbors terrorists – Bush’s ‘dead or alive’ policy of “we will hunt down and kill them, and anyone who harbors them.”

Nothing is more important for Americans to see that it is Bush and Cheney using Israel as a ‘proxy’ to destroy Hezbollah, and to severely punish the Lebanese government and make an example of them by their massive overkill in Lebanon, per the Bush Doctrine. Five years ago Israel drew up a step-by-step plan to invade Lebanon and totally destroy Hezbollah. Per the Bush Doctrine, Bush approved it in detail three years ago, just as Bush had pre-approved before he was even sworn in as President the invasion and occupation of Iraq (click here).

Just as 9/11 gave Bush the excuse to execute his already approved invasion and occupation plans for Iraq, so too, Hezbollah’s illegal invasion, killing and capturing of Israeli soldiers gave Bush and Israel the opportunity to execute their preexisting plan to destroy Hezbollah, and bring down the weak Lebanese government, even though Lebanon was a democracy and Hezbollah had been freely elected to their Parliament.

Israel has more than a right to defend itself – It has a sacred obligation to do so

It is the brutal overkill in Lebanon that betrays Bush and Israel’s real intention. Make no mistake about it – Israel has more than a right to defend itself. It has a serious moral obligation to do so. However, in Lebanon it is no longer a question of Israel defending itself effectively and with whatever brutality is necessary, as they did in Palestine when Hamas illegally capturing an Israeli soldier – in Lebanon it goes way beyond the defeating an enemy. It has become the total destruction of a country and its infrastructure, killing and maiming thousands of innocent civilians, and displacing 500,000 refugees out of their Homeland that has turned the entire world, not just the Arab world, against Israel and Bush’s United States, who the whole world sees clearly is not just behind Israel’s right to defend itself, but Israel’s massive overkill, an overkill that may, in the long run, threaten the very survival of America’s lifelong friend, Israel.

Bush/Israel’s response is like a 12-year-old schoolboy who was beaten up on the bus by a bigger 15-year-old, who takes a gun to school and shoots not only the boy who beat him, but a dozen other innocent bystanders as well.

Israel, a democracy who wants only to be left alone in peace, is put in severe jeopardy by Bush’s blunder

Israel, which from the beginning has been our good and faithful ally, has by Bush’s latest blunder to use Israel to crush anyone ‘aspiring to even regional influence,’ has intensified the already existing hatred against Israel by every Arab on the peninsula to such an enormous level it cannot be measured. And though Israel will crush Hezbollah and obliterate Lebanon, no Jew will be able to eat safely in a café without being blown up by a thousand new suicide bombers, a hatred that will continue for the next 100 years.
All because Bush and Cheney’s incredible incompetence has fundamentally miscalculated the response of the 300 million Arabs on the peninsula against only 5 million Jews – not to mention the response of the entire world, even our allies, against Bush’s madness and Israel’s over the top destruction of an entire nation.

Bush and Cheney are mentally incapable of understanding the complexity of the new sophisticated form of World War III they’ve started in Iraq and are now spreading to the Middle East. Though they can see – as does the whole world – that Syria and Iran are clearly using Hezbollah and Hamas to attack Israel and the United States, their delusions keep them from seeing that behind the scenes, and China and Russia while pretending with lip service to denounce Hezbollah and Hamas, are secretly and fully supporting Iran and Syria, just as they secretly are supporting North Korea against the United States. It is for this reason that Russia and China, while pretending to cooperate, constantly block Japan and the United States’ attempts to punish North Korea and Iran, who are their ‘proxies’ in this new, very different kind of World War.

Bush, blind to the new World War III he and his Doctrine have created and are now escalating by spreading the Iraq war to Lebanon, intensifies the nuclear crisis Bush has created, and plunges us further towards a nuclear catastrophe

Tragically for the United States and the entire world, Bush and Cheney’s delusional systems and profound ignorance of their enemies, starting with Hezbollah and Hamas to Syria, Iran and North Korea, to Russia and China make them blind to the incredible holocaust and escalating nuclear and terrorist crisis their blunder by using Israel as their attack dog in executing their ‘dead or alive’ policy, has created a cultural and religious new World War III that, unless it is stopped, will result in the greatest nuclear catastrophe mankind has ever known.

Only by clearly seeing it is Bush using Israel to destroy Hezbollah and prove his manhood through his cowboy “dead or alive” fantasy and stopping him in the November election by enacting a superb exit plan from Iraq immediately available, or by an Impeachment Inquiry, can we stop this insane escalation of the war before it’s too late.

(For more on Tom's book on The Bush Doctrine of World Domination, click here)

(For the actual Bush Doctrine put out by New American Century, click here)

Here is a superb, realistic Exit Strategy for Iraq you never hear discussed by politicians or on talk shows

There exists a realistic, practical, immediately available 3rd Option to “stay the course” or “cut and run” - A never-before-discussed Exit Strategy that will end the daily civil war bloodbath, bring real security, stability and democracy to Iraq, and by replacing our troops with non-hated, welcomed G8 forces (China, Russia, France et al), have all Americans home by Christmas. This coalition force will be extremely welcomed, not only in Iraq, but throughout the Middle East and the whole world, because they are replacing the hated empire-building “demon/infidel/Satan” American invaders/occupiers whom the Iraqis, the entire Middle East and the whole world see as having illegally and immorally invaded their land for the oil, set up a puppet government, and have created a major Civil War, worse than Vietnam - a Civil War that has no end in sight, and may soon spread to more countries in the Middle East.

6. America will be guaranteed to have Her oil needs met before any other nation, and will be guaranteed that oil will never exceed $40/barrel. America will also receive a fair royalty payment on all oil until America’s costs of liberating Iraq are repaid.

7. Conquest and coercion creates resentment and desire for revenge, and with Iraq having been turned into a matrix of daily bloody violence and THE training ground for all kinds off terrorists from all over the world, where even Baghdad is not even safe and secure, where a quarter of a million Iraqis have fled the country, and over 1.2 million are displaced, 82 members of the new Parliament have asked Bush to remove American troops because the American occupiers are the primary cause of the insurgency that is daily becoming more out of control.

8. Make America free from all Middle Eastern oil in 3-5 years through the technology that is immediately available – not something that hopefully will be available in the future. It is available right now, and for the cost of drilling one new oil platform in the Gulf, could be in every one of the 170,000 filling stations in the US, and for a cost of $100-$200, can convert every existing car to be able to use it. See Video 1 on Home Page.

9. Once we're free of Middle Eastern oil, we, like China, who will spend $170 billion over the next ten years to develop even cleaner, more efficient forms of alternate fuels, can make it a national priority, also spending less than two months of the cost of the Iraq war developing alternate fuels and making us ultimately free of oil all together.

This Plan very quickly achieves every goal those who argue to stay or escalate want achieved – plus additional goals that are equally vital to the National Security of America in its urgent need to stop the worldwide spread of terrorism at a time terrorists will soon have nuclear bombs in suitcases to set off in our subways and nuclear plants – but will be impossible to stop if we stay or escalate

This Plan is a Godsend to the Iraqi people and a Godsend to our Troops. Because it applies to two specific discoveries.

The first is that I had no idea that we could indeed be free from all Middle Eastern oil and have gas available at the filling station down the block for 20-30% less than gasoline right now – in two to three years at the most – I couldn’t believe it. But what astounded me even more, was that I didn’t know about it, my wife didn’t know about it … and we are really committed and concerned people on these issues – no environmentalist or person in alternate fuels knows that it’s so immediately available. That was the most astounding part.

Sound too good to be true? Science fiction? Absurd? Listen to what experts, like the heads of General Motors, the President of Ford Brazil, the Founder of Sun Microsystems, NBC, CBS – and even Wal-Mart – say is available right now.

BE: This isn’t science fiction. This is worldwide technology that we’re using here in Brazil every day on a broad scale basis.

DW: There are things that we can really do right now. It doesn’t require massive technology breakthroughs.

DK: The transition is pretty easy.

DR: Are we talking three years, five years, twenty years?

DK: I think it’s less than that actually. I would bet that we would have enough ethanol stations within two to three years time at most.

Kosla: It would be a lot cheaper than $1 a gallon. It might be less than 70 cents a gallon, right there. Right today.
There is nothing standing in the way.

TOM: What you are about to see now is incontrovertible proof that we could be free of that oil in three to five years, at the most. If John Kennedy could put a man on the moon in a decade when he didn’t even have the technology to fly into outer space, and we not only have the technology right now, but it’s fully operational in Brazil, right now, we could have it in three to five years, all depending on how we vote in this next election.

TOM; The magic words are ETHANOL and FLEX CARS. We’ve all heard about ethanol. Like many me, we all believed its 15-20 years away if it ever becomes operational. Wrong. It’s operational right today, and the United States could be converted to ethanol gasoline choice in two to three years.
SP: Barry Engle is president of Ford Brazil.

Barry Engle: This isn’t science fiction. This is real world technology that we’re using here in Brazil every day on a broad scale basis.

SP: At a time when Ford and other US automakers are posting huge losses, sales here are up.

DR: Rick Wagner is the head of General Motors.

RW: I think what we like about ethanol in this case is there are things that we can really do right now. It doesn’t require massive technology breakthroughs.

DR: Professor Daniel Kammon heads the Renewable Energy Lab at the Berkeley campus of the University of California. He’s watched Brazil’s ethanol experiment for years.

DK: They saw the price trans for ethanol from sugar cane going down, and of course the global price of gasoline going up. And so they made it work, and it wasn’t even that hard.

TOM: Vinod Khosla is one of the world’s foremost experts on ethanol. The billionaire co-founder of the Sun Microsystems is both a biomedical engineer and an electrical engineer, and is renowned for his innovative technology. He is now on a crusade to make America aware that we can have ethanol right now.

But that’s not even the exciting part. With new technology, Khosla says we can process these mountain of leftovers and triple the amount of ethanol you get, dramatically reducing costs. And that’s exactly Kosla’s vision for America, putting new generation ethanol plants next to paper mills, turning their leftovers into fuel, or orange juice factories where he says ethanol from peels could replace petroleum. But it gets better. Kosla says we can make ethanol out of something as common as prairie grass. It is much cheaper, and deliver ten times the energy.

Kosla: We can return the country back to the prairie grass that used to have hundreds of years ago, and meet all our petroleum needs.

TOM: The other key to this new revolution is the FLEX car –a car that can run on either ethanol or gas, which by the way isn’t new, the first Model T’s ran on it.

SP: The key to ethanol’s popularity here in Brazil is choice. If you drive a Flex fueled car like this, you get to choose every time you pull up to the pump. The choices … gasoline, ethanol, or alcohol as they call it here, or a mixture of the two. You check the prices and make your choice.

DR: And it’s sold at every gas station, right alongside gasoline.

TOM: And for those who own muscle cars and are worried that ethanol will weaken your power, all the oil companies already add at least 10% ethanol to gasoline because it boosts the octane.

SP: The car goes faster?

Man: Yeah, it goes faster, yeah.

TOM: And Ethanol as only as a tiny additive isn’t going to replace foreign oil. They key is what is called E85 – 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. So – now comes the huge question - how much does a flex car cost? We are brainwashed to believe that it’s going to take years. WE all know the enormous cost of the Prius and how short they are, etc., so we believe that Flex cars will be way off in the future after enormous amount of money is spent. Wrong. And this is really decisive. The Flex car is available right now, at no extra cost. Not a dime.

SP: In fact, both Ford and GM already sell Flex cars in the US, and how much more does this new technology add to the sticker price? Not a dime.

DR: And it doesn’t cost any more than a conventional car. Flex fueled automobiles adjust automatically to whatever is put in the tank – gas, ethanol or any combination.

Salesman: Everybody wants to buy a flex-fueled car.

BE: 70% of this particular model is sold with the Flex engine. And 90 days from now it will be 100%.

SP: At a time when Ford and other US automakers are posting huge losses, sales here are up.

TOM: And the best part of all is we don’t have to go buy a Flex car. You can take the car you are driving now and for a few dollars convert it to a flex car. Easy, simple, and in less than a couple of days. Right now everyone can have a Flex car.

Kosla: Environmentalists love it because it’s greener, and your conservatives like it because it insures energy independence and security for America. The farmers love it because it takes oil dollars and moves it to rural America.
George Bush: Ethanol will replace gasoline consumption. Ethanol is good for the whole country.

TOM: This is again what’s so sad. This is part of that massive manipulation and engineering of consent of us in America. The President appears at an Alternate Fuel, and talks like he really believes in alternate fuel and it’s good for America. But he has done nothing. He knows what you are learning here. He knows that in five and a half years he’s been in office he could have America converted to ethanol and totally free from Middle Eastern oil. And if we were free from Middle Eastern oil, that’s the end of the Iraq war, that is the best possible protection against terrorsts, in fact it reduces our threat from terrorists down to about 2%. Nothing could be more important for America. So why, instead of going to war in Iraq for the oil didn’t we concentrate and make America an Ethanol nation right now.

SP: Some oil companies have complained that putting ethanol in their stations would require costly and complicated changes to their trucks, tanks and pumps.

DR: They want to spend billions finding new sources of oil, which is more expensive to produce, instead of switching over to E-85.

TOM: This is more than massive manipulation. Convincing us that the only way we can get relief from the gas pump is to immediately start spending billions of dollars drilling in ANWAR, off the California coast, the Gulf coast – when in fact, for a fraction, a tiny fraction of the cost of that drilling we could be totally free from all Middle Eastern oil now.

DR: Red Cabonet is the head of the American Petroleum Institute, the oil industry’s trade association. He estimates it will cost up to $200,000 to bring E-85 to each station, and the people who own the stations, would have to foot the bill.

Kosla: I’ve looked at all the issues they’ve raised. In fact, most of them are bogus.

TOM: This is what is so frightening about what is happening today. These are more of the lies. The fact is that it can be done very quickly, and very cheaply.

DK: The transition is pretty easy. It looks like it it’s $30 or $40,000 per gas station to change over and have an ethanol dedicated pump.

DR: Are we talking three years, five years? 20 years?

DK: I think it’s less than that actually. I would bet that we would have enough ethanol stations within two to three years time at most. And the reason is the transition is so easy that doing the retrofit to have ethanol pumps available can be done in a matter of weeks.

TOM: As for their false claim that it would be out of sight costly to change over all their storage tanks, their trucks, and their filling stations, that too is a lie.

Kosla: In most cases the same holding tanks can be used. The same trucks can be used to transport the ethanol. There are logistic problems to be solved, to be sure, but it’s not a difficult transition.

SP: As for the expense, Kosla estimates it would cost about $15-$20 million to offer ethanol pumps at 1,000 gas stations in California.

TOM: $15-20 million for 1000 stations – double that for 2,000 stations is not the real story. The real story is that it costs between $3.5 to $4 billion to drill a new oil platform in the Gulf Mexico.

Head of Chevron: The latest project we’re developing in the Gulf of Mexico, it’s a project in the deep waters at 4-5000 feet of water. It’s $3.5 billion just for that platform to produce 125,000 barrels a day of oil.

TOM: So for virtually the cost of one platform we could have 170,000 filling stations in the United States each have an ethanol pump just like in Brazil.

Kosla: We need to make sure that the major oil companies don’t manipulate the price of oil enough to drive ethanol out of business.

SP: Do you believe oil companies would deliberately drop the prices of oil?

Kosla: Absolutely! A senior executive of a major oil company came up to me and said, “Be careful,” in a very warning tone. He said, “Be careful, we can drop the price of gasoline.”

TOM: Just another piece of evidence that shows how the Administration and the oiligarchy can manipulate the oil prices if they want, and if ethanol becomes the threat it absolutely will for the entire oil industry, that threat will be very grave.

DR: Why shouldn’t I think, well this is just a way for the oil companies to slow or snuff out the growth of ethanol and other alternatives?

RC: I think we’ve showed that we’re strong supporters for ethanol where it’s appropriate …

DR: But what the oil industry considers appropriate is limiting ethanol to an additive, and not moving quickly to something like E-85.

TOM: Notice the use of the word “appropriate”, that is exactly the kind of thing we teach you elsewhere on this website to look for to stop the manipulators, the cons and the liars. Appropriate? Appropriate to who? Appropriate for what? They just use that word and make it appear like they are all for ethanol when in fact they could be adding 85% ethanol to the cars right now.

RC: What we don’t want to do is over promise to the American public what can be done with these alternative fuels and then under deliver.

TOM: Under deliver? Again, this is this Kafkaesque, Alice in Wonderland spin they put us in. It is not possible to under deliver. Brazil has it right now. We could have it right now. It is not possible. And yet they spin that out as if they are good guys and they certainly don’t want to disappoint us. I’m disappointed everytime I go to the pump and have to pay $3.50 plus. That’s disappointment.

Bush: Ethanol is good for the whole country.

TOM: If you believe that George, then why don’t you devote the last two and a half years of your term to making it happen. There is nothing you can do, George, to protect Americans from the war on terror more than getting us free from Middle Eastern oil. Please, don’t continue to shred the Constitution and go ahead and all these elaborate spying and domestic phone calls etc. Nonsense. Get us free from Middle Eastern oil, out of Iraq and the war on terror goes to virtually nothing.

If Bush had been the President of the American people and not the President of the oligarchy, and if the cowardly, systemically corrupt Congress was not bought and paid for by the multinations, we could be an ethanol nation right now free from all Middle Eastern oil. When Bush and Cheney took office five and a half years ago, because they know what you know now, they had a choice. They could have converted America to an ethanol nation free from Middle Eastern oil, or they could lie and send us to war in Iraq for the oil.

The choice they took was obvious, the horror, the catastrophe they have created at a time terrorists are soon going to have nuclear weapons in suitcases and they want to now invade Iran with nuclear weapons, etc., is humongous, horrible, heinous.

We cannot let this go on. Delores and I have made a commitment. We’re on a crusade to convince all of America of the enormous importance of E85, and that we really can be free of Middle Eastern oil right now. Everything on this website, everything in our film, everything in our publicly televised hearings and trials are going to be devoted to making mainstream America aware of what’s available right now.

In addition, we’re going to take a series of full page ads, we’re going to do TV commercials, infomercials, radio spots – and what is truly exciting, is that right now, there are political tools available, a voting strategy, that we can enact that will fundamentally change the 2006 election, and it will force Congress right now to start converting America to an ethanol nation if they want to be reelected.

We have a Contract with Congress – please click here to find out what it is, and join us in this crusade to get free of Middle Eastern oil, end the Iraq war, stop the cascading plunge to nuclear catastrophe, all of those things follow.
Help us get E85.

The Unconscionable Lie that Bush and Prince Abdullah were meeting to find ways to reduce soaring oil and gas prices

Bush and Cheney are responsible for the outrageous cost of gas at the pump, not indirectly, not peripherally, but directly responsible for the gluttonous gas prices.

Sound unbelievable?

Read on.

Bush owns and controls the Saudis to do exactly what he and Cheney tell them to.

Here’s the proof.

Few people know that before the preemptive and illegal invasion of Iraq, a vast number of previously unknown oil reserves were found, making Iraq the richest oil producing nation in the world (over 250 billion barrels), surpassing even Saudi Arabia, who has not found a new oil reserve since the 1970s.

Before the invasion, America and Britain were frozen out of the Iraqi oil fields.

· Russia had the West Qurnah oil field,
· China had the Rumalyah Reserve
· France had two of Iraq’s largest fields - the Majnoon and Nahr Bin Omar.

The only way Bush could take control of these oil reserves, plus the new ones, was to invade Iraq and then occupy it as an American oil colony. Sound unbelievable?

Before Bush was even sworn in as President, he had already approved the preemptive invasion of Iraq, and drawn up detailed plans of occupation. These plans included – again, before he was even sworn in – the building of 14 military bases in Iraq alone. Not 2, 3, or 5, which would have been a staggering number for an invader who wanted to get out as quickly as possible, but 14.

In addition, the design called for building the largest embassy in the world (6,000 people). 6,000 people for a country the size of Iraq we were just going to be in temporarily?

No – with 14 permanent military bases we not only owned all of Iraq and its superrich oil fields, we controlled, i.e. owned every country in the Middle East, for who could dare oppose the military might of America spread out over 14 military bases within a stones throw of every Middle Eastern capital. With such power Bush controlled not only Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and every one else in the Middle East, and that included complete control of OPEC.

Here’s why Bush and Cheney are directly responsible for the soaring gas prices.

The design for occupying Iraq included – and again this was before he was even sworn in as President – a two-phase plan to control oil prices.

The first phase was to order OPEC to agree that during Bush’s first term OPEC would put a low end cap on oil, and never let it drop below $40/barrel, such as Kuwait did before the first Gulf War by glutting the market so that oil dropped to a pitiful $7/barrel. OPEC put that policy in place, and though word of it leaked out stuck to that policy.

The second phase, if Bush was elected to a second term, was negotiated through Prince Bandahar and the same Crown Prince Abdullah Bush was posing with yesterday.

That phase would push oil to $65-75/barrel, and gas prices to $3.50-$4/gallon by the Summer of 2005. By the Summer of 2006, oil would reach $75/barrel, and a gallon of gas would climb to between $4.50-$5/gallon.

However, just before the elections, in September of 2006, gas prices would drop, so that the Republicans could gain even more control over the House and Senate.

Need proof that Bush had these detailed plans before becoming President? The proof is in the pudding in what actually happened. How many permanent military bases are there in Iraq today? 14. How big is the mega-million dollar embassy being built? Big enough for 6,000 people. And what are the gas prices at your local pump? Do not believe all of the bull spit about increased demand in China, etc. It’s oil gluttony pure and simple, as Chevron toasting their all time record profits tells even the most unconscious Bush devotee.

I am personally offended, no – nauseated – when I see the front page of the Los Angeles Times, and other newspapers, showing a picture of Bush and Prince Abdullah holding hands as they supposedly seek solutions to help so many millions of Americans truly suffering because of the absurd gas prices creating windfall profits for the House of Saud and the House of Bush. (Incidentally, Craig Unger’s book, House of Bush, House of Saud is a must read for everyone who wants to stop this takeover of America’s government by these multi-national corporations.)

Next: We’ll take up the filibuster, Bolton, and what defines a Neo-Fascist mentality and government.

For more: go to www.billyjack.com

A Personal Statement and Dedication, on behalf of myself and my wife, Delores Taylor (Laughlin)

This blog is dedicated to restoring what it means to be a true American to the national discourse, and to expose the rising tide of intolerance and McCarthy-type Neo-Fascist suppression of dissent that has metastasized into our government and into vast areas of our culture.

“America has lost its moral purpose … America was the only nation formed for a moral purpose, the rights of every man, everywhere, especially the right to freely criticize and dissent.”

Because on this blog we will discuss at length subjects that upon first hearing are such turn-off hot-button issues that they offend some people, remove us from the bar of reason, and cause us to be dismissed as over the top extremists from the lunatic fringe, it is imperative we make it clear where we stand politically.

Where do Delores and I stand politically?

“The greatest danger facing America is that it will split into two parties (factions) and men will put their loyalty to their party ahead of their loyalty to the people and the country as a whole.” -- George Washington

We don’t disdain both the Democrat and Republican Parties, we loathe them. We are not non-partisan, we are fiercely anti-partisan. We believe the two Parties have destroyed America, just as George Washington predicted they would.

As Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and other Founding Fathers feared, nothing has destroyed the American Ideal of all sovereignty being with the people, all political power in the hands of the people, than the current, thoroughly corrupt two Party system, as the last several shameful elections, the last five years of legislation, and above all, the heinous 2005 legislation, punishing the middle class and stripping Americans of their Constitutional rights have proved.

We believe that both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have become so systemically corrupt, that, as Senator Warren Rudman said when he resigned from the Senate, “This place has become so corrupt it cannot function anymore.” We believe that is true of the entire Congress, the White House, the Pentagon, and the entire political system inside the Beltway. It is no longer capable of representing the people. It is no longer capable of being the voice of the people, but only the voice and will of the special interests, the wealthy, and the corporations, especially the multi-national corporations.

This blog will be the people’s voice, passionately and fearlessly.

We despise the incredibly stupid demonizing of members of one Party by members of the other Party as neo-Satanic. We also despise the childish, even idiotic dividing of people into Conservatives or Liberals, Right or Left, Red or Blue, using those as labels to smear anything the other might say. Any intelligent, balanced person who is in touch with reality is both Liberal and Conservative – liberal in some areas of their life, and conservative in others, left in some areas, right in others – as are we.

What America desperately needs is a new, mainstream – not fringe – 3rd Party to break the stranglehold big business and the multinational corporations have over both the corrupt cowardly Democrats, or the equally corrupt rapacious Republicans.

What is the definition of a True American?

“I detest what you say, but I defend to the death your right to say it.” – Patrick Henry *

Above all else, America is freedom of speech (especially to dissent, to challenge), of belief, of religion, and the right to assemble (especially to protest) without being punished.

Even more important than just having freedom of speech, for other nations have that, the only definition of the true American is the one who will defend to the death his neighbor’s right to his free speech even though he detests what his neighbor says, to defend his enemy’s right to speak no matter how repulsive.

The ultimate test of who is the only real American, the only true patriot, is the one who, though he detests what his neighbor says, will defend to the death his right to say it.

If you do not defend to the death your neighbor’s right to speak, no matter how much you detest it, you are not an American in any sense of the word.

To defend the right to speak freely only to those who agree with you, and who support your leader, is to betray everything America stands for, and to be no different from the Husseins, the Jong IIs, the Castros, China, etc.

To suppress someone’s right to speak freely, to try to silence them by intimidation, boycott, economic coercion, or any other way, instead of defending their right to say it no matter how much you detest it, is to betray everything America is, was, and stands for. It is the highest form of betrayal of America.

The Frightening turning of America into a Dictatorship
of the Majority

The greatest danger facing Americans today is the creation of a climate where people are afraid to dissent, even celebrities

Partisan extremists, radio and TV hosts, and pundits such as Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Joe Scarborough, Ann Coulter, etc., who are trying to squelch dissent and oppress free speech criticizing President Bush and the war, calling for boycotts of Celebrities who have a different point of view, calling anti-war protestors “traitors who hate America,” are the greatest danger today … turning America into a dictatorship of the majority.

Who’s really guilty of betraying everything America stands for …
the anti-war/anti-Bush activists, or those who would suppress them?

America is dissent.

America is freedom.

Above all, America is the freedom to dissent.

America is the right to challenge our leaders and those in authority, especially our political leaders from the local level to the President.

America was settled by people who challenged their authoritarian rulers and refused to live under that oppressive way of life, including having their right to think, believe, and speak freely oppressed.

This country was founded on the right to challenge, by men who challenged the authoritarian might of the all powerful British empire and its King, and challenged it so vehemently they revolted and threw out the King’s authority and British rule, even entering into a seemingly hopeless war against the invincible British Army and Navy to do it.

America is the only nation that was conceived for a moral purpose – the Rights of Man – every man, everywhere - and first and foremost among these rights was the right to think, believe and say what you please, the freedom to speak your mind out, to dissent, criticize, even ridicule and rebel against whatever government is in power without fear of reprisals or being physically or economically harmed in any way.

Everything America was, is, and should forever be, is summed up in two of Patrick Henry’s speeches covering the same subject at a crucial time in American history when those in power were trying to suppress those with extremely harsh, critical, even rebellious ideas towards the British government which they supported, just as they are doing now, even going so far as to shout down Henry with cries of “Treason! Treason!” Instead of being intimidated and backing down from his enemies who were calling him a traitor, the most heinous accusation possible, Henry stood tall and replied:

“If this be treason, make the most of it!”

On another occasion, Henry expressed the fundamental principle that is the foundation of everything America is, and everything an American should be with the saying:

“I detest what you say, but I defend to the death your right to say it.”

Thomas Jefferson was equally adamant against those whose tyrannical bent was to oppress the freedom of dissenters to criticize, even attack, the government:

“I have sworn upon the alter of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

As a young man I stood in the Jefferson Memorial late at night and read those words around the top of the rotunda. The words hit me like a thunderbolt. Like Saul of Tarsus, I understood in a flash what was the American religion, not the theological, but the spiritual religion that created America in the first place. Then and there I devoted my life to that principle which drives me to this day, and causes me to create this blog.

That attempt to exercise tyranny over the mind of man extends into every corner of our lives, and it includes the tyranny of the pro-war/pro-Bush fanatics for indulging in an all out campaign to smear, vilify, and label as traitors anyone who disagrees with Bush’s policy on Iraq, with a special emphasis on intimidating celebrities into silence, which they have done successfully. The extremists have created a dictatorship by the majority.

The nuclear core of what makes America, America, the greatest, most unique country in the history of the world, is that in America there can Never – NEVER – under any circumstance -- be a dictatorship of the majority.

Jefferson, Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Thomas Paine, George Mason, and all the rest of the Founding Fathers were so terrified of America becoming a dictatorship of the majority that everything they put in the Constitution was to prevent that from ever happening, and to absolutely guarantee that could never happen, they topped it off with the First Amendment being the guarantee of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Belief, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom to Assemble and Protest, even to protest to the point of calling for open rebellion against the Crown, which at one point the majority of Americans denounced as treason, but that didn’t deter our Founding Father heroes from continuing to vigorously protest as we saw in Patrick Henry’s reply, “If this be treason, make the most of it.”

The moment coercion of any kind, whether it be government power, economic reprisals that take away one’s right to make a living, or the fear of public opinion, especially organized public opinion, makes Americans afraid to go against the grain, to have their own mind, to publicly have their own voice, or to say publicly what they think without fear – even to “rebel against the Crown” -- we have turned into a dictatorship of the majority, and we are no longer America.

The greatest danger facing Americans today is the frightening attempt to suppress Freedom of Speech, and the right to dissent, and the even more frightening attempt to suppress celebrities or any other opposition voices right to Freedom of Speech and dissent by smear, boycott, and economic intimidation – to twist the word “dissent” to mean “disloyal.”

The true American feels an enormous responsibility – a sacred obligation – to defend everyone’s right to speak no matter how much he detests it. If you do not feel the responsibility – the obligation – to defend your neighbor’s right to speak, no matter how much you detest it, you are not an American in any sense of the word.

Next: When does an Autocratic Totalitarian regime become Neo-Fascist, or even Fascist?

Because few Americans know what fascism really is, next we will define it and let you decide if it’s over the top to say the Neo-fascist mentality has permeated our government and our culture.

For more in-depth discussion go to www.billyjack.com
